How to Inspire yourself?
Can you grow up to be like those selected few who have made
great accomplishments in life? This is a
question many parents ask their children time and time again. They often tend
to impose their own expectations on their children and this does not yield good
results.
Instead, positive and long-lasting impressions should be
embedded in the child’s mind. And children should be able to understand it
fully. Their fame and achievements should become immortal. The flight of their
success should cross the limits of mortality. They should realize that they are
not ordinary. Big dreams only lead to big destinations. A student who has
escaped from school is like a leaf separated from its branch and is bound to
repent. A farmer who has missed the opportunity and a monkey who has slipped
from a branch are badly hurt. Dry and scattered leaves don’t look beautiful.
Things look good only at the right place. If dislocated from their place, they
lose their strength. You, too, should not fall down from your family, this
world, from your dignity and from your goal. Otherwise, you will never be able
to become glorious.
Be Vigilant like a Crow
The first quality of a student is ‘Kak chishta’ - vigilant
like a crow. Be alert and cautious. Be watchful about pitfalls. You should know
where to go and where not to go. At every few steps there is a crossing. And at
every crossing the right path is only one. You only have to select the right
path. You have to use your discretion; and distinguish the right from the
wrong.
Concentrate like a Crane
‘Bako-dhyanam’ - concentration like that of a crane or
heron. A crane has a single-pointed vision. A student whose mind is completely engrossed
in studies, succeeds. He forgets the rest of the world.
Whatever he wants to achieve, he should pursue it with
undivided attention till the end. He should not get distracted at all. There
will be many to distract your mind, tempt you and spoil you. You will come across
arrogant children. But you have to proceed cautiously avoiding all of them.
Engage all your strength in the achievement of your goal.
Sleep like a Dog
The third quality is described as - ‘shwan nidra tathain
cha’. ‘Shwan’ means a dog. The sleep of a student should be like that of a dog.
Sleep less. Don’t keep in lying down in lethargy. Wake up early in the morning.
You must do exercise.
Physical exercise improves blood circulation. The mind
remains fresh. Students should maintain their concentration. They must also
give rest to body as well as mind. They should sleep from five to eight hours. Don’t
Lament over Your Misfortunes Don’t lament over your misfortunes. Instead have
confidence in your actions. You can uplift your luck by dint of your hard work.
Never get upset about your poverty, dearth of means and helplessness. We have had
people like Lal Bahadur Shastri who, too, suffered from poverty, yet he reached
such heights that brought glory to the name of Uttar Pradesh as well as India.
Select Your Role Model
You must select someone as your role model. Accept somebody
as your ideal person. Start moulding yourself accordingly. During your
vacation, if possible, read the autobiography of some great man. It will
definitely give you an inspiration to progress.
