Ready, Steady, Slow
One often finds oneself lined up with their
competitors, representing where they come from, what they believe in and how
good they are at what they do, with the purpose of establishing who the best
is. On a racetrack, every athlete knows, there are no friends on this field and
the only way to earn one’s keep in this world is to fight for it. The race
finishes and you return to reality, to realize that this does not happen in
real life. Despite our lives being a sprint, the fastest runner takes it all.
Being in this world, we are made to get ready and before we can get steady, we
are made to go. Most of us stumble with different shots being fired at different
times, yet we still continue running in the same race.
In life’s sprint, we need to slow down and
take a breather, for we cannot continuously run aimlessly. We want to keep
running but do we see a finish line in front of us? When we don’t know why we
are running or to where or to achieve what, then why do we keep running? What
we don’t realize is that while we are running aimlessly we are missing out on
things that are worth cherishing. Life should be like a long drive, enjoying
the scenic beauty of the mountains, where we experience each turn, rising and
descending through the valleys of life.
Ever wondered when each one’s aim of life
is different, why is it the race is same? When one is running all they should
be focusing on is their goal and finish line, but that doesn’t mean that they
ignore the basics that is needed for winning the race. Life does not just
happen to you; you make it happen for yourself. You were not born to merely pay
bills and die, you are here to serve a purpose and that is what your calling in
life is. Simply running around with a cloudy head, we miss out on so much and
at what cost; the cost is not merely monetary but our soul gets compromised
too. We need a break from this mundane loop and give time to ourselves as well.
Running in this mad race, we forget how to enjoy life; moreover we forget our
purpose and calling in life we think life is boring because we are doing boring
things all the time.
We need to look out of our work cabins and
listen to things other than just phone conversations, to see the world outside,
to hear nature’s music, to be inspired by those natural beings, to live freely
and fearlessly once more. The need to connect with your own soul is greater
than any other need, take time off work and take a break from your “social”
connections and go to your peaceful place that is within you. Dive deep within
yourself, slow down your mind and conquer the mountain of thoughts that burdens
your mind. Cut through them and reach the core of your being, that is where you
will find peace, the meaning of existence and one fine day you can connect to
the God residing in you; it will slow you down, slow your thoughts down and
that is when the clouds of doubt and the cluster of thoughts will get cleansed.
Once you connect to God, the racetrack will be clear and the hurdles will seem
like child’s play.
