COVID-19 has affected almost everyone across the world. There were concerns about its impact on women's and girls' reproductive health as well. This is because women’s health is the cornerstone of a healthy family and society, and it simply cannot be ignored.

Therefore, global health bodies issued guidance related to women’s health issues and took efforts to avert maternal and child mortality amid the ongoing pandemic. Everyone understands that it is crucial to take good care of the health and welfare of girls, women, and mothers.

Along with that, every woman should also understand that it is her primary responsibility to take care of her own physical and mental health. They should keep a balance in their domestic and professional responsibilities and should never forget their own body in the whole process. The full moon day in the month of May is celebrated as Vaishakha Purnima or Buddh Purnima. This extraordinary Purnima is observed worldwide as the pious day to mark Gautam Buddha's birth, enlightenment and demise. The day is also an apt day to practice meditation.

Gautam Buddha achieved enlightenment after years of meditation under the Bodhi tree. The followers of Gautam Buddha also endeavour to understand the world and themselves through the transforming path of meditation. Through this practice they achieve success in connecting within, and they are ‘awakened’. And for this, they try to meditate like Gautam Buddha.

In meditation, seekers sit and observe themselves. Sometimes a mantra is repeated to help focus mind on the higher power. They pay attention to their breath, or to the body and its subtle energies. They also focus on the flow of ideas and images that travel through the mind. The outcome of such meditation is more than inner peace and calm.

Life is replete with ups and downs. Human beings could be adversely affected by life’s unpredictable events, both physically and mentally and therefore it’s important for everyone to have a balanced mind. And one Ramayan character who is the ultimate symbol of such a mind is, undeniably, Mata Sita.

Mata Sita is an integral part of our consciousness. Her personality teaches us many valuable lessons especially the importance of maintaining a balanced mind amid exceptionally challenging circumstances. She is the ideal woman, an outspoken wife who freely expresses herself, who has a clear conscience, and who knows what she wants with her life.

Unimaginable Struggle of Mata Sita

Despite being the wife of Lord Ram, the nature of Mata Sita is very human. She faces unimaginable struggles, still never loses her balance, always keeping a meditative heart. Though often regarded as the personification of devotion and controlled behaviour, sometimes she deviates from the ideal as well. She is critical of Lord Ram at times, goes to the forest with Him despite being a princess and against His wishes, falls prey to temptation, spoke unkind words to Her husband’s brother and then repented.

She was faithful to her husband devotedly and did not get allured by the luxury and comfort in Ravan's castle. Yet, she faced suspicion, accepted separation from Lord Ram and raised strong children as a single mother. And finally, Mata Sita did what she wanted with her life- leaving everybody, including Lord Ram, in the awe of Her forever.

The Power of a Balanced Mind

It’s difficult to even imagine such a struggling life and Mata Sita lived such a life with dignity, maintaining a balanced mind under all circumstances. Such a mind makes Her a strong symbol of truth, sincerity, and self-sacrifice. Her endurance is simply divine.

Moreover, the life story of Mata Sita also shows how a balanced mind can act wisely under tough circumstances.

Here’s an example of her presence of mind.

When demon Ravan kidnapped her, she was overwhelmed yet she had the consciousness to throw away her jewelry on the way. She was able to think that Lord Ram would come in search of Her and these ornaments would give Him a hint of the route on which Ravan is taking Her. Such resilience and strong mental ability is impossible if the mind is not in a balanced state amid challenges.

Furthermore, at the deeper level, Mata Sita teaches how a seeker should pursue his Spiritual Path, despite deviations, to realize the Supreme Truth which is to get immersed in God at the end.

So, let’s learn from the incredible qualities of Mata Sita in order to cope with difficult circumstances of life and try to attain a balanced mind which is possible through Yoga, Meditation, and Satvik diet.

Receive God’s Love & Protection



 

God’s Love and Protection is a secret power. The power helps seekers in staying away from the fear of sickness, gloom, and penury. But the question is- how to invite God’s Love & Protection to life. The most common paths are the path of knowledge and the path of devotion.

Let’s understand these paths with an example.

When a son is far from home, and he has to see his ailing mother, he has two options before him. He may start his journey cursing the world and complaining about the problems faced along the way. In such a case, the journey would become troublesome. He will be stressed and tense throughout the journey. Ultimately, he will reach home distressed and sad.

But there is also a different approach to pursue. He can carry out the journey in a natural and loving way; moving with devotion, driven by love and bliss as he is going to meet his mother who gave him birth.

The Path of Knowledge

This path is full of love, filled with deep emotions and moistness and it is not a dry way. That means the path of ‘attribute worship’ is the path of knowledge that’s very dry, within which there is no space for the feelings of love. We consistently make our thoughts pure while moving on the path of knowledge while removing the impure thoughts and then we reach God.

The Path of Self-Realization

The path of self-realization is the path of attribute worship (Nirgun Upasna) and in it, the dependency is on self. Here, we have taken our total responsibility in endeavour to reach God and we have to accomplish it. While moving on this path, we will think deeply and figure out how much Yoga and deep meditation to practice, and how many scriptures to study.

So, the whole method of austerity and meditation will depend on us. It means you have not left anything on the supreme power. But in the case of ‘the attributeless worship’ (Sagun Upasna) path, you completely devote yourself to God. What happens then? When we surrender ourselves completely to God, He protects us in all circumstances.

The Path of Devotion

The phenomenon has been described in Gita. Every aspect of the seeker, his salvation, his sustenance in the world, and his worldly affairs are protected by God. So, when we devote everything to the supreme power, God will sustain us. He will bestow power upon us. He comes close and touches us with love like a caring mother.

He also pays attention to any misdeed of His child because if a child is about to commit a mistake, his parents stay close to him and protect him. But if the child has not surrendered, if he is moving with his own ego, then he won’t get any support. So, in the path of knowledge, you move with your own logic and sense, but in the path of devotion, you move according to the logic of God. Here you surrender everything related to yourself to the energy of the divine universe.

Therefore, to receive God’s love and protection, seekers have two fixed paths before them- the path of knowledge and the path of devotion. Now it’s up to them what they are choosing. Whatever they choose, the ultimate aim is to feel the secret power of God, which is blissful and which forms a protective shield around them, keeping them away from sickness, gloom, and penury.

The current pandemic we  are facing now has brought about unusual norms of social isolation and physical distancing and this is affecting family relationships all over the world.

But even in such disheartening situations, maintaining and strengthening family connection is of utmost importance.

A strong family bond contributes to happiness along with sound mental and physical health. In a well- connected family, people are better equipped to deal with anxiety, depression, and other negativity, And certainly in a better position to get out of any crisis. It is always easier to fight any difficult situation with the help of family and only a family can provide a robust support system to its members in such situations.

 REACH GOD THROUGH MEDITATION AND TRUTH

Everyone wishes to know the truth. Everyone wants to attain Truth. And everyone wants to attain God. But nobody knows anything about Truth. We do not know anything about Truth and how to seek the Truth. We live under the impression that reaching the destination is the Truth and it is an easy course. But God is neither the aim nor any consequence but God is the ultimate Truth. We begin to realize that Truth and let it soak into our life. No thought or any imagination can take us up to that Truth. There is no scripture or any book for that purpose.

We only have
to seek that Truth from within us. The mind has to be used to move towards that direction. Through that we
must reach the divine. We must try to discover the Truth and only through our own means. Only that way we come to realize that the Truth resides only within us. It is very much in our own center. The day we come to realize this we would begin to realize and recognize the Truth.

Awaken the Spirit of Surrender

For this journey we must be a humble and calm person. These traits of purity will come only through submission or total surrender. To achieve the Truth, we must awaken the spirit of surrender within us. Surrender does not
come by uttering nice words alone. Keep on flowing towards God the same way as the river continues to flow towards the sea. Keep flowing with full faith and in extreme pleasure – move towards the aim through deep and continuous meditation.

You can reach your inner consciousness and immortality through concentration and meditation. The feeling of surrender begins to emerge inevitably and the nature begins to work in our favor. The veneration begins to emerge. Let the lamp of Truth shine within you so that the darkness around you starts to dissipate. You will have to continue meditating on a regular basis and in right earnest.

You must do meditation as per instructions and feel its benefits. Flow along with the feelings. Try to consolidate all your energies and increase your potentials. Begin to feel
the presence and benefits of the nature and realize the presence of God.

Let the Divine Energy resonate within.

You must close the eyes and let them see God internally. Feel the universe and realize how the universal energy exists everywhere. Let it enter your body. You will then begin to feel the power of God within you– you begin to get empowered. In this way, by getting empowered you move your steps forward. You can then get ready to ascend in the domain of meditation. Peace will descend on you and you shall realize the presence of The Divine within you.

1. Gave up Law to Study Shakespeare’s Works

Gurudev was a well-travelled person and owed much of his profound vision to experiences gained abroad. The great writer’s journeys started with studies in London where he gave up law to study the works of William Shakespeare and pursue his love for literature.

He responded to his ‘inner calling’ and shaped beautiful artworks in the form of books and paintings. A truly inspiring life indeed!

2. Thieves Stole his Nobel Prize

Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian and the first non-European to receive the Nobel Prize for literature. The prestigious award was kept in a safety vault of Visva-Bharati University but tragically it was robbed in 2004. The strange theft was even chronicled in a 2012 Bengali film named ‘Nobel Chor’.

3. A Marvelous Institution, Built From his Nobel Prize

Rabindranath Tagore spent his Nobel Prize money in building the ‘Visva-Bharati’ school in Santiniketan in West Bengal. The school gave the country, many eminent personalities, including Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen, and the famous author Mahasweta Debi, to name just a few.

यद्यदाचरति श्रेष्ठस्तत्त्देवेतरो जनः।

स यत्प्रमाणं कुरुते लोकस्तदनुवर्तते।।

अर्थात् बुद्धिमान, समस्त शास्त्रों   के रहस्य का ज्ञाता, लोक-व्यवहार से परिचित, निरपेक्ष, प्रतिभावान, शांतचित्त, प्रश्न करने से पहले जिसने उत्तर देख लिया हो, प्रश्नों को सहन करने वाला, प्रभुता सम्पन्न, दूसरों के मन को हरने वाला, निंदा नहीं करने वाला, स्पष्ट एवं मधुर वचन बोलने वाला तथा गुणों के निधान आचार्य हैं हमारे गुरुदेव जी।

आपने गुरुवर हिमप्रांत में अपनी साधना पूरी करने के पश्चात् अपने नवयौवन काल में ही हिमालय के मैदानी भागों में सत्संग एवं प्रवचन की यात्रा का श्रीगणेश किया, तो असंख्य नर-नारी, बाल-वृंद आपके होते चले गये। आपने उनको दुःख-दर्द से उबारा। अपने करुणामय भावों से उन्हें दुःख-शोक से मुक्त करके सेवा में लगा लिया। यह सत्संग यात्रा नित्य निरंतर निर्बाध गति से आज भी चल रही है। इस क्रम में भारत के कोने-कोने से लेकर विश्व के अनेकानेक देशों तक आधुनिक युग में बढ़ते तनाव, भय, निराशा और अवसाद से ग्रस्त लोगों का मनोबल बढ़ाने हेतु उन्हें अनेक आध्यात्मिक प्रयोग भी दिए हैं।

आपके प्रवचनामृत का पान करके मनुष्य को नवजीवन मिलता है। मन में आशा और आस्था जागती है, उत्साह और विश्वास का संचार होता है, सोच सकारात्मक बनती है। आपके सान्निध्य में ध्यान करके साधकों को भय, विपत्ति, बीमारी जैसी विपरीत स्थितियों में सांत्वना, धैर्य एवं प्रेरणा मिलती है। गुरुवर आपके आभामण्डल से झरते आध्यात्मिक आलोक में प्रभु-प्राप्ति सुलभ लगने लगता है। श्रद्धालुओं को आपके तपोनिष्ठ जीवन छाया में आकर साधना, सेवा, सहयोग, सत्संग, धर्म, भक्ति, प्रेम, दया एवं करुणा जैसी उदार  भावनाओं से भर उठने का अवसर मिलता है। इस प्रकार आपमें दिव्य आध्यात्मिक स्वरूप के दर्शन होते हैं। लगता है जैसे मानव-जाति को आधि-व्याधि एवं उपाधि से मुक्त करने के लिए ही आपने इस धरा का चयन किया है व विश्व जागृति मिशन के माध्यम से ध्यान, ज्ञान एवं आरोग्य के निमित्त अनेकानेक सेवा प्रकल्पों की स्थापना की हैं।

जहां एक ओर आपने मनाली (हिमाचल प्रदेश) में ध्यान- साधना के अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय केन्द्र की स्थापना की, वहीं ज्ञान-साधना के लिए मिशन के गुरुकुल एवं विद्यालयों का निर्माण करवाया। महर्षि वेदव्यास गुरुकुल विद्यापीठ आनन्दधाम एक प्रकाश स्तम्भ बनकर खड़ा हो रहा है। आपकी मानवता के प्रति करुणा ही है कि दुःख एवं रोग से पीड़ित जन समुदाय के उपचार के लिए अनेक अस्पताल बनवाए। वहीं धर्म एवं आस्था के केंद्र मंदिरों का निर्माण करवाया। इस प्रकार एक ओर यदि आप गरीब एवं अनाथ बच्चों को शरण  एवं संरक्षण देने के लिए तत्पर हैं, तो दूसरी ओर वृद्धाश्रम के माध्यम से अपनों से उपक्षित एवं बेसहारा वृद्धजनों की देखभाल और सेवा प्रदान कर अनुपम उदाहरण प्रस्तुत कर रहे हैं।

इस प्रकार तीर्थ सा पवित्र एवं निश्छल प्रेम करुणा से भरा पूज्यश्री आपका अंतःकरण तथा सहज-सरल व्यक्तित्व संकल्पनिष्ठ ऋषि-मुनियों की चेष्टाओं और उसके व्यावहारिक स्वरूपों की गहराई को उद्घाटित करता है। सच कहें तो आप जैसे ऋषिकल्प महापुरुषों के गुणों को प्रकाशित करने के लिए किसी की लेखनी अथवा वाणी की क्या क्षमता, इतना विराट है आपका सागर से व्यक्तित्व। गहरा गहराई से युक्त अपने सद्गुरु के लिए। हम इतना भर कह सकते हैं कि कस्तूरी की सुगंध किसी शपथ की मोहताज नहीं, ऐसे स्वप्रकाशित संत हैं हमारे सद्गुरुदेव।

आमोदो न हि कस्तूर्याः शपथेन विभाव्यते।।

Stay Away from Worthless Knowledge

We are living in a world where knowledge flows in abundance. There are various sources, facilitating a free flow of information. Such an easy availability of information is a good thing but it can be unsafe as well. Fake news and its implications continue to be a growing menace in our society. Many people accumulate unreliable information, believe in it, and spread it everywhere in the form of advice that is baseless.

Such knowledge is ‘worthless knowledge’; it will not benefit anyone.  And you must stay away from spreading such knowledge.

No Dearth of Knowledge Here

There is no dearth of knowledge around us. You can find a variety of knowledge in every field whether it is science, technology, history, geography, self-knowledge, or metaphysics.  We can acquire knowledge in any field. But what a man does? Does he become educated in every field? Does he start studying everything, and earning degrees? Is this possible in a lifetime? That is impossible.

We need to acquire only such knowledge that we can use in our life. So, a person, who wants to learn about accountancy, should acquire the knowledge of accounts and mathematics. Those who want to become a doctor should study human anatomy and physiology and acquire knowledge of biology. Likewise, those who want to become a scientist must study the laws of physics.

But then there is a different class of people. They do not focus on one field but instead, they want to know about everything. They want to sense anything and everything around them and try to understand what is happening everywhere.

They are sneaky and curious to know more about their neighbors, colleagues, environment- among various other things. They fill their mind with all sorts of useless information and thoughts collected from everywhere.  Now, what do they do with this incomplete useless knowledge? They start sharing it with others.  

Baseless Knowledge; the Root of Ego

When you come across this misinformation, you share it with your neighbor. Now your neighbour will share it with his colleagues, and then with his family, and like this, the chain continues. So, people are basically giving wrong advice to others.  In this world, the majority of people can be seen giving unnecessary and baseless advice to others because they are fascinated by the idea of changing others. This is also a kind of ego.

So many people give recommendations to others. And this is also a fact that very few people seek advice and even fewer people will follow any advice given to them. So, we tend to accumulate useless information in our mind and then spread it everywhere and such knowledge that will never be useful for anyone. Therefore, it is ‘worthless’ knowledge and you must stay away from spreading such knowledge. It is good for your soul and society overall.
