OLD HABITS DIE HARD

Habits make or mar an individual. Habits ones formed go with the person to the burial ground. The first question that arises is that how we can get rid of our bad habits? Habits are the only obstacles in our progress and every human is a slave of his own habits, whether those habits are good or bad.

One inculcates bad habits unconsciously but it needs a lot of hard work to practice good habits e.g., to germinate and grow a plant a person needs to put in hard work, but weeds grow on their own. We must enhance our will-power because it is the only way that can lead us to the path of meditation. As soon as you wake up in the morning, try to maintain a personal diary where you must write the type of personality you want for yourself.
Write about the habits that stop you from progressing on the path of meditation. You should always be truthful to yourself and try to talk to yourself with clear intentions. You should also pen down your reactions to the situations whether favorable or unfavorable and the negative sides of your reactions. By practicing good habits you can develop the right attitude which can lead to your progress in all the aspects of life.
You can cure your disease, only when you diagnose it. In the same way if you recognize your habits that stop you from being successful, you must try to overcome them. Furthermore, you should also write your good habits in the diary and should write what you want to be and what is your aim. Also write an oath of about two lines and repeat it in your mind while sleeping. As soon as you wake up in the morning, memorize your oath and pray to God for achieving your goal. You should not suppress your bad habits instead, you must inculcate good habits and practice them in your life umpteen times.

Think about your reactions to the different situations you come across during the day and also think about the moments of your calmness and not aggression. If we try to fight against our bad habits, we tend to destroy our energy and, therefore, we must preferably adopt good habits rather than destroying the bad ones. We must try to bring goodness and innocence in our habits and enhance them so that the bad ones automatically get discarded and dropped.
